e-commerce websites

Randy's Ring & Pinion
Randy's is one of the largest distributors of differential parts in North America. This company is very popular in the offroad automotive market, especially with car enthusiasts.

Randy had a need to bring his retail and wholesale customers a real-time electronic catalog so users could research and look up product information. The application used by the sales staff feeds a SQL database thru a custom data transform engine. Randy's needed an easy way to update the website, so I created a WYSIWYG visual interface to populate content. The content is stored in a SQL database so all content is completely searchable.

Randy wanted a simple theme with a friendly atmosphere that would also appeal to "gear-heads" and automotive enthusiasts. The site features real-time client-side sorting, a search function, script-based calculations, real-time product information and database-driven content. Customers responded well to the new layout, as sales and web traffic tripled during the first published month.

XS International
XS International is a computer and IT services company that specializes in the IT aftermarket (refurbished computer systems).

This e-commerce website functions as an online sales tool, and populates updated product information from a Microsoft SQL database using ASP. Main content is also populated with a custom CMS.

Beta Capital Management
Beta Capital Management L.P. was a small financial services company that needed a web presence. The needed stock and other financial informaiton available through a web portal.

The company would update site content frequently, so a simple method of updating this content was crucial. A simple template-based interface "envelope" was created that allowed the client to edit the middle content to "stuff the envelope".

The company no longer exists (or has moved on) so the latest data entry is June, 2001.

Max Commerce
Max Commerce was a startup company specializing in web and graphic design. This site's design was to portray innovative design technique coupled with business strength. To do this, the team generated articles and reports supporting our stance on usability and design.

This site links to other client sites such as XS international, Silverman's Jewelers, Aboa, Telepak.net, Best Gloves and others. Some of these companies no longer exist, and most have moved on to newer designs.
The company did rather well before the bottom fell out of the ".com bust" in the late nineties. They were purchased by British Telecom before the bottom fell out of the market.

Silverman's Jewelers
Silverman's Jewelers wanted to update their old website with an updated online catalog with e-commerce functionality. This site's theme was to emphasize elegance and quality while maintaining a friendly and clean atmosphere. The design is very simple, with a "less-is-more" philosophy on a white background.

This was done during the early days of the web, when splash screens were popular (just click on the splash screen to get to the main website). This splash screen uses IE-specific objects manipulated in Javascript to generate colored lights in real time dancing about the jewelry. The company was bought out by a competitor, and development ceased before work could be completed. The main sections are there, but deeper branches may not have been completed. This still is a good example of clean elegant design.

Animals Clothing
Animals describes their product line as "creative clothing for babies and children". They needed a website with a theme that paralleled their whimsical designs. Mercantec shopping cart was used to allow users to shop online. This site won an International Web Page Award in 2000.
