Alan McCloskey is a web architect and designer based in Seattle, Washington. He has worked for such companies as Microsoft, Safeco, Hewlett-Packard and does independant consulting work.

Alan grew up in Chattanooga with his twin brother and older sister. Their father, Frances McCloskey is a retired electrical engineer. Their mother, Retha McCloskey, is an administrative assistant for the US government.

McCloskey attended public school. There, he discovered his interest in computers, art and music. Combining these interests was difficult in the 1980s, as computer technology had barely scratched the surface of their capabilities. Alan's first personal computer was an Atari 400, which he learned to program at the age of 12.

In 1991, McCloskey entered the University of Tennessee, majoring in computer science with a minor in art. Still, these subjects did not pair well together, having to choose between one or the other. In 1992, Alan was accepted to the Atlanta College of Art, which had started computer animation and graphic design programs. While in Atlanta, Alan began work work in the computer industry as a network engineer.

In the mid-nineties, the World Wide Web achieved widespread popularity. As computers entered more homes, the web became more powerful, as more content became available. This new technology quickly became an art medium of its own, and demand for qualified programers and designers were growing. Web pages at this time were either well-programmed and stagnant, or very artistic and featureless. Alan found his niche by providing high quality web programming with the artistic eye needed to implement a marketing vision sucessfully. His work has won two International Web Page Awards and has been written about in the New York Times and Seattle Times.

Alan made the move from Atlanta to Seattle in early 2000. There he has worked for such industry icons as Microsoft, Safeco, as well as other Seattle companies.

Alan is still an avid computer enthusiast, and is the owner and managing editor of OCModshop.com, a leading online magazine for technology, computer, and gaming enthusiasts. He has also produced many other online websites, for both personal and professional use.

Alan was married in 1997 to Suzanne Ryan. They have three children. Alan is also an accomplished photographer, published in several journals and numerous websites. He also enjoys video games, video production/authoring, home theater, and artwork, which he creates in his digital studio.
